Those Who Remember - Into Bamboo City

那些記得的—竹林城市

那些記得的—竹林城市

"Those Who Remember" Series

Water is transparent, bottles are transparent, but bodies are opaque. People who remember shuttle in a city of skyscrapers, as if they are in a bamboo forest. Through movements, we walk through burdens in life.

"Those Who Remember" Series

Those Who Remember “Into Bamboo City” uses water bottles as the transmission medium between humans. Transparent containers are like invisible frameworks, and water in those bottles are the vehicle of our memories. The transparent water may be forgotten memories, great pieces of memories, or our longing for simplicity and purity. Water in motion pulls and pushes relationships. Transparent bottles resonate with bodies, and memories are documented on our bodies as vehicles. These bodily records reflect our life experiences. Years of life experiences and cultural backgrounds contribute to our movements, habits, and responses. Bodies document our preferences, habits, and injuries. Through bodies, we express our reactions and emotions. Opaque bodies, in fact, always clearly demonstrate life experiences of their hosts. As water bottles are passed around, they respond to our physical spaces and movements to describe group relationships, and review life history.

Those Who Remember “Into Bamboo City” place performers and viewers in the flow between architecture. By listening to sounds resonating between nature and city, and seeing juxtapositions of virtual and reality, we generate viewing experiences unique to each individual, and connect to personal emotions.
